October brought us two exciting events. Firstly, we witnessed the unveiling of the Nobel Prize laureates:
- The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine – Katalin Kariko and Drew Weissman for developing Covid-19 vaccines.
- The Nobel Prize in Physics – Pierre Agostini, Ferenc Krausz, and Anne L’Huillier for their work on measuring rapid electron processes using short pulses of light.
- The Nobel Prize in Chemistry – Moungi G. Bawendi, Louis E. Brus, and Aleksey Yekimov for their discovery and development of quantum dots.
- The Nobel Prize in Literature – 64-year-old Norwegian author Jon Fosse for his innovative plays and prose which give voice to the unsayable.
- The Nobel Peace Prize – jailed Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi for her unwavering efforts to combat the oppression of women in Iran and promote human rights and freedom (🖤).
- The Nobel Prize in Economic Science – Claudia Goldinfor for her pioneering research on the reasons behind the differences in women's workforce participation and earnings, helping to bring gender economics into the mainstream.
