What is HIPAA?
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) was created to protect sensitive patient health information. As all US-based companies must comply with this act, you need to make sure that the licenses you create for your US customers are HIPAA compliant.
Why is it important?
HIPAA sets the US standards of protecting individuals’ medical records to reduce the security risks that the healthcare industry faces every day. So anyone who has access to patient information and provides support in treatment, payment, or operations must meet HIPAA compliance.
Businesses that are HIPAA compliant announce to the world that their patient’s data will be protected. On the other hand, neglecting the HIPAA regulations can cost the trust of patients and the company’s reputation.
To get a HIPAA-compliant license for your customers, you’ll have to sign up for a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) and customize a license in LiveChat.
Here’s how to do that.
Signing a Business Associate Agreement
Your first step will be to contact us and request signing a BAA. You can do it by sending us an email or contacting us through the Partner App (a “contact us” button on the bottom of the license details section).
Want to learn more about BAA? Check this link.
As a result, you’ll be contacted by a Partner Program representative to discuss your requirements (e.g., size of the license) and pricing. The minimum commitment required is a 12-month and 5-account LiveChat license in the Business plan with a custom price of $100 per seat/agent.
As soon as we get to an agreement, you’ll sign the BAA and will be able to prepare your customers’ license for HIPAA compliance. The license will be free for the first 14 days so you can optimize the license at your own pace.
